HAMBURG HAFEN CITY PROJECT



Actually, My major purpose was to look around the Hamburg 
Haven city.

Bremen port is situated on the mouth of the Weser river, and
Faced with North sea. on the other hand, Hamburg port is located 
on inland deeply, not seaside. 

Of course, Hamburg port is also faced with North sea through 
the Elbe river though, We can not see the port if we do not go
upstream along the Elbe river. It is almost on inland.

It could be some advantages on low range of tide or surge.
How could the gigantic port be arisen inland.



Even though hamburg port is not faced with any sea directly,
The hamburg port can deal with all kinds of freight and cargo
such as containers, liquid cargo, grain, even vehicles through
the elbe river. 

Annually The number of vessels coming and going through 
the hamburg port is around 12,000 vessels. 

And 25 container shipping companies are connecting all around world, 80 countries.

the hamburg port also has marvelous geographical advantage
connecting Scandinavian peninsula, East Europe, and West Europe
at the same time.




Additionally, The Linked transport system like Highway system, 
Railroad system, and Waterway system connected organically 
through the port as hub is one of the hamburg port's major
competitiveness.


The hamburg port are keeping one-day connection with industrial
area throughout Germany.

The hamburg port has 8 terminals in total and 
the terminal established most recently is CTA terminal 

Upper side of the CTA terminal, there are Eurogate and CTD terminal coming face to face along the elbe river. 

Those two terminal operated by Eurogate and HHLA respectively
are contributing the total quantity of goods transported in Germany
through competition.

From the past, Hamburg Hafencity have been playing the role
as a international trade port. That's why there has been gigantic 
warehouse building district in the Hafencity. 

When I visited Hamburg The Hafencity project was in process to
change all the warehouse buildings to commercial area such as
a restaurant, hotel, and even office.

When I went there A half of the area was already changed to commercial area though, that still looked like warehouse area.
